Ramayana OTT Release: JioHotstar Strikes Major Deal for Ranbir Kapoor’s Film, Nita Ambani Calls It a Privilege

Mumbai: Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited film Ramayana: Part One has secured a major digital distribution deal with JioHotstar. After its theatrical run, the film will be available to Indian audiences through a special on-demand purchase option. The partnership between JioHotstar and Prime Focus Studios aims to take the grand cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic to millions of viewers across the country.

In a first for JioHotstar, the platform will introduce a pay-per-view facility that will allow viewers to purchase the film separately and watch it online. The initiative is expected to expand access to the film beyond theatres, using JioHotstar’s technology and extensive reach to deliver it across supported devices in the best possible quality.

Ramayana: Part One will release worldwide in theatres on November 5, 2026, including in IMAX 3D. The digital release will follow after the film completes its exclusive theatrical window.

Nita Ambani Calls It a Privilege to Bring Ramayana to Indian Homes

Nita Ambani, chairperson of JioStar, described the project as an opportunity to bring one of India’s greatest cultural treasures to a wider audience.

“Ramayana is one of India’s greatest civilisational treasures. It is a story that has shaped our consciousness, inspired our imagination and guided our lives for centuries. As India enters a new era of storytelling, we have an extraordinary opportunity to carry our cultural heritage forward,” she said.

Ambani added that JioHotstar’s vision is to use technology to make exceptional stories accessible to every Indian. She said it was a privilege to bring this grand cinematic interpretation of the epic to families across the country and introduce younger generations to its timeless values of duty, love, courage and goodness.

What Did Producer Namit Malhotra Say About the JioHotstar Deal?

Namit Malhotra, producer of the film and founder and CEO of Prime Focus, said he believes Ramayana is best experienced on the biggest possible screen, particularly in IMAX 3D. However, he acknowledged that India’s cinema infrastructure cannot yet reach everyone who feels a deep connection with the epic.

“Ramayana belongs to every Indian, and our ambition should reflect that belief. JioHotstar has repeatedly demonstrated the power of technology to connect the country through sports and entertainment. That made it a natural partner for us, helping bring Ramayana into people’s hands and homes after its theatrical release,” Malhotra said.
